I composed Mokele Mbembe while I was at the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock NY, during the fall of 1981. This was where I met Leo Ciesa, who has been playing drums in Doctor Nerve since the mid-90's.

It was the first mixed ensemble piece I ever composed.

Recorded live to four track tape in Studio A at The Creative Music Studio, Woodstock, NY in 1981.
