Flykiller was composed and recorded in an afternoon on a Scully four track 1/2" tape machine. I played a Gibson L6-S using alligator clip preparations ( Bill Horvitz turned me on to using alligator clips on strings). I took the preamp output of a Lab Series head and recorded that direct to tape. The voice was recorded through a phone I tore out of a phone booth when I was a Dartmouth college, pictured here.
"Now I Do This" was released in 1982, but this version of Flykiller is the remix I submitted to the CRI compilation "New York Guitars" in 1995. The version on the 1/4" master tape was far too damaged by print-through to be salvageable, so I am very happy to be able to offer this excellent version. See the bonus track for the original version, transferred from vinyl.
